If you're like me, working in cluttered areas causes you stress and anxiety. Both of which make if very difficult for you to function at your true optimal level. Here are 4 quick tips you can use to get and more importantly stay organized as a nurse manager.

1. File paperwork 2-3 times a week at a MINIMUM.

To prevent paperwork from quickly piling up on your desk, make sure you file the documents 2-3 times a week at a minimum. Preferably, more frequently if possible. The more paperwork you have , the longer it will take to sort and file. Additionally, it will make it easier for you to locate and find paperwork when you need it so you can follow through with tasks more efficiently.

2. Create a space for all of your paperwork to go.

Create a space for al of your paperwork to go. The longer you wait to create a space, the more your paperwork will pile up. Determine if a binder organization system or file folder system works best for you. Which ever you decide, make sure it is a system you can keep up and maintain.

4. Plan for tomorrow today!

At the end of the day review you checklist. Note any items that have not yet been completed and rewrite them on your checklist for tomorrow. Make sure this is the last task you do for the day. This task will eliminate you worrying about work at home because you have closure at the end of the day.
